Ayurveda says that the nutrition from milk cannot be obtained from any other food.
Some people find it difficult to choose between various dairy products like milk, paneer, curd. Have you ever wondered which is the healthiest for you based on your nutritional needs and dietary restrictions? Health experts can help you find the answer. Nutritionist Luke Coutinho said that milk, paneer, and curd have health benefits depending on their nutritional content.
Milk
Milk helps build healthy bones and control high blood pressure due to its potassium content. An average 250 ml of fat-free milk contains 90 calories and 9 grams of protein. A cup of fat-free milk contains 8 percent of vitamin B12, 2 percent of vitamin A, 12 percent of calcium, 1 percent of sodium, 2 percent of magnesium, and 4 percent of potassium.
Ayurveda says that the nutrition provided by milk cannot be obtained from any other food. For proper digestion, avoid drinking cold milk. Drink milk after boiling it well. Heating milk reduces phlegm and makes it easier to digest, Luke said.
Paneer
Paneer provides high protein and essential nutrients. It plays a crucial role in supporting digestive health and strengthening the immune system. “Paneer is an excellent source of protein. It is essential for muscle building, repair and overall body functions. Paneer is an ideal option for those following low-carb diets,” said dietician B. Anupama.
Yogurt
Compared to milk, yogurt is easy to digest and keeps you full for longer. “Yogurt, which is full of good bacteria, helps cleanse the digestive tract and keeps infections at bay,” said Luke. A cup of fat-free yogurt has 98 calories and 11 grams of protein. A cup of fat-free yogurt contains the same amount of vitamins as milk, which is 8 percent vitamin B12 and 2 percent vitamin A. A cup of fat-free yogurt has about 8 percent calcium, 15 percent sodium, 2 percent magnesium, and 2 percent potassium.
Since there is not much difference in the nutritional value of the three, it is better to consume milk daily, paneer once a week, and yogurt 2-3 days a week, Luke suggested. Each dairy product has its own benefits. Including them in your diet will help you achieve the health benefits of each.
